Frequently Asked Questions

What’s with the name?

The name Health Warrior comes from two things:

One, it’s symbolic – Chia is for the Health Warrior in all of us. And the battle we’re waging is in support of our country’s health. Obesity and the health concerns that come with it are a serious problem; Health Warrior is about winning that battle and good health is the first step toward doing so.

Two, Chia Seeds have a history of powering Ancient Aztec Warriors through cross empire journeys. In fact, they carried just a pouch of Chia Seeds as their only sustenance during long battles.

What are Health Warrior Chia Seeds? Are they FDA approved?

Basically, Health Warrior Chia Seeds are the highest quality Chia Seeds on the market today. Health Warrior Chia is an organically grown whole food. The FDA recognizes Chia Seeds as a real food and even points to Chia’s history as a food staple for ancient people over thousands of years. The plant that produces Health Warrior Chia Seeds is called Salvia Hispanica L. It’s a blue-flowering plant that grows best in the equatorial regions of South America, Mesoamerica, and Australia. Health Warrior Chia Seeds are certified as an EU Novel Food, have GlobalGAP, GMP, HACCP Certifications, and are fully traceable. Health Warrior Chia Seeds are Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, and Gluten-Free.

Is this the Chia like the Chia pets from my youth?

Yes! The very same seeds that sprouted hair from your make believe dinosaur now turns the regular you into the “super” you, with tons of nutrients, fiber, antioxidants, protein, and omega-3′s.

Why is the protein in Health Warrior Chia Seeds so special?

Health Warrior is basically the most complete protein there is – it contains all of the 10 essential amino acids that must be obtained from the diet. In fact, Chia Seeds are one of the most complete sources of plant-based protein available on earth, which allows for easier digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Why do I keep hearing about antioxidants?

Your body is a battlefield. The bad guys: free radicals that attack our cells and cause mutations in our DNA. The good guys: the antioxidants that mop up the free radicals.
Health Warrior Chia Seeds are a whole food provider of five critical antioxidants – Caffeic Acid, Chlorogenic Acid, Myricetin, Quercetin, and Kaempferol. Essentially, Health Warrior Chia is your warrior ‘on the inside.’

And why is fiber so critical?

Can’t say enough about this key dietary supplement. More fiber in our diets would cure a lot of the country’s health problems. Fiber:

Improves weight loss by aiding feelings of fullness — fill up and slim down!
Prevents constipation and enhances regularity
May improve irritable bowel syndrome
Decreases risk of cardiovascular heart disease
Decreases bad cholesterol levels (LDL) and blood sugar levels to improve blood pressure and lessens the risk of diabetes

One Health Warrior Chia Bar has 16% of your Daily Value of Fiber.

Ok, is there any other good stuff in Health Warrior Chia Seeds?

MAGNESIUM
Magnesium deficiency may play a role in joint pain, migraines, leg cramps. Useful in the prevention and control of osteoporosis by helping in the absorption of Calcium. Magnesium loves Calcium. Calcium loves Magnesium. If you take one without the other, your stomach might go all warrior all over you. Good thing Health Warrior Chia Seeds have both.

Why am I just hearing about this miraculous food?

In 1519 Spanish conquistadors arrived in what is now Mexico with just over 500 men. Within three years, Cortés brought about the fall of the ancient Aztec Empire of five million people. One of the tactics of the Spanish Conquistadors during their ensuing South American colonization was the systematized destruction of indigenous traditions and culture; the Chia plant was among the most important cultural traditions of the Aztec and Mayan civilization, so accordingly, Cortes tried to wipe it out, and nearly succeeded. It has just been cultivated at scale again in the past two decades.

Why so few flavors of Chia Bars?

Chia is our core ingredient. We don’t want to dilute it too much, but don’t worry, more flavors and more products are on the way. We can’t say exactly what they’ll be, but we can say ‘mmmmm mmmm good.’

How do I take Chia Seeds?

Basically however you want. Health Warrior Chia Seeds go great with water (the traditional drink, with a squeeze of lemon or lime), added to any juice, sprinkled on yogurt or a salad, added to smoothies, straight from a spoon, chugged from a shot glass, and in gel-form. Or, if you’re on the go, just grab a Health Warrior Chia Bar and you’ve got all the benefits of Chia Seeds to take with you.

What amount of Chia Seeds should I take every day?

2 tbsp. of Health Warrior Chia Seeds a day will provide you with lots of good for you nutrients:

6000mg Omega-3′s (200% of the World Health Organization’s recommended daily amount)
40% of the daily recommended amount of fiber
More antioxidants (more than blueberries) than almost any other whole food
8 mg of iron (more than spinach)
350 mg of calcium (more than milk)
190 mg of magnesium (pounds and pounds of broccoli)

Is all Chia made equal?

No. A thousand times no! Health Warrior has made it our mission to vet out the most Premium Chia Seeds and bring them to you.

If a farmer harvests Chia too early, many of the nutrition benefits are lost. Do Chia Seeds help with weight loss?

The fiber, quality protein, and significant density of nutrients per calorie found in Health Warrior Chia Seeds create a satiating effect on your appetite; you get more nutrition from less food, meaning Chia fills you up to slim you down.

Health Warrior Chia Seeds have a Glycemic Index score of 1 – unlike most foods in the modern diet – which means they will help control your blood sugar and prevent cravings.

Do Chia Seeds help increase energy and endurance?

The Aztec word for Chia means “Running Food”. Its primary use throughout history was as endurance and health food — ancient societies, including the Aztec civilization and the Mayans, accorded great value to their prized Chia Seeds. Chia Seeds are hydrophilic; they absorb more than 10 times their weight in water, and act like tiny camels in your body, keeping athletes well-hydrated and energized.

It’s written that Aztec messengers would transverse their empire – from the Atlantic to the Pacific – with nothing but a pouch of chia for sustenance.

What if, hypothetically speaking of course, I don’t run 15 miles a day?

That’s ok. You don’t have to be an avid runner to get the health benefits of Chia Seeds. Chia is still one of the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet, still filled with “good for you’s” like fiber, antioxidants and omega-3’s, and still a critical food to any healthy, balanced diet.

Why are Omega-3’s so important and what is the proper ratio of Omega 3’s to Omega 6’s?

Omega-3′s and omega-6′s are essential fatty acids that our body needs to function normally. They help reduce inflammation, support blood vessel and joint health, and even brain function. Our bodies cannot make these on their own, though, we have to obtain them from our diet.

To stay in optimal health, it’s important to consume equal amounts of omega-6′s and omega-3′s. However, unlike omega-6′s which are found in seeds, nuts and oils already prevalent in the modern diet (think vegetable oil, soybeans and peanuts), omega-3′s are actually found in fewer foods sources, and generally obtained through cold water fish, like salmon or sardines.

Chia Seeds are one of nature’s best sources of omega-3′s. Two tablespoons of Health Warrior Chia Seeds will give you more omega-3′s than a filet of salmon.
